Since it’s founding in 1932, the American Automobile Touring Alliance (AATA) has been assisting and advocating for travelers wishing to drive private passenger automobiles, motorcycles and other motor vehicles while traveling abroad – whether on vacation, visiting family and friends or for business purposes.
Following ratification by the Senate of the United State of America, the United Nations 1949 Convention on Road Traffic was adopted and entered into force on March 26, 1952. The AATA was honored to be involved in the process of simplifying international private vehicle traffic between and among all countries and to be authorized to issue the Convention’s International Driving Permit to U.S. motorist and travelers.
